I like BIG BUNs and I cannot lie.......

Gone are the days of ballerinas being the only ones able to sport buns!  Whether they are worn sleek, messy, high or low buns have made a major comeback. With the help of Pinterest, celebrities, hairshows and magazines we are given an unlimited number of ways to show off our "buns."  (and no I'm not talking about our back sides)

 The Messy High Bun!

The look that says I didn't have time to spend countless hours on my hair, but I still look darn good.  The tricky thing about the "messy bun" is that sometimes it DOES take a while to get this look just right.  I know there may be those of you with perfectly wavy hair that pulls right up into a nice shape, size and messiness, but some of us actually have to work with our hair to achieve even the "messy" just right.  Remember this is a very cute look, but it's probably best for casual occasions.  I wouldn't recommend it for a business meeting or anything corporate.  You don't want to look completely polished....and then sport your wild bun on top...it just doesn't flow well.  Now with jeans and a cute Tee it would be fine!  :)

 The High Braided Bun!

There is something sweet to me about braids.  I guess it could be my inner-child coming out and what is not to love about the high braided bun.  A couple tips on "nailing" this look....
  1. Make sure you put your ponytail high enough on your head so that you will see it from the front.
  2. If your ponytail is thin, give it a bit of backcombing (not too much) so that it will appear more full when you wrap it.
  3. Braid your ponytail and then use hairspray to tame the fly aways.
  4. Use bobby pins to secure your bun.

 The Sophisticated Low Bun!

This bun is perfect for so many occasions and it is relatively easy to do.  The catch is to make sure your hair is long enough to wrap around the ponytail, otherwise it will just look like a messy ponytail that wasn't pulled through right.  I always recommend using bobby pins to secure this bun.

Hair too short for a normal bun? Try this alternative!

When I had short hair I came across this look on pinterest!
  1. Back comb your hair to give it volume before you start.
  2. Divide you hair into 4 sections at the nape.
  3. Secure each section with a rubber band.
  4. Wrap each ponytail into an individual bun.
  5. Secure each bun with bobby pins.
  6. Spray your hair to tame fly aways and hold your style.
This look is adorable no matter if it turns out messy or sleek!

The Bandana Bun!

This is great for girls who love a little more flair!  I would recommend making sure your bun is a little messy and make sure you have enough volume.  You want the bun to be big.  In my opinion it looks weird when you have a big accessory and then a tiny bun.  You want the look to flow, so make sure you aren't overpowering your head with the bandana!

The Classic Sleek Bun!

This is just beautiful!  I love the simplicity of the sleek high bun.
Remember to make your ponytail extremely high, I would try it in different spots on your head and see what looks best.  Try to get a smooth surface, but not too tight.  You can use the "sock bun" method to achieve this, but I have recently found (for me) that it is just easier to backcomb a TON and the smooth it out while I wrap my hair around the ponytail.  This look is great anywhere. I just love it!

 The Rocker Bun

Last but not least....we have the rocker bun!  I added this one just for fun.  Why not add a little "attitude" to your bun.  Love the studs!
